Verify our licenses
South River Mortgage is licensed as a mortgage lender in the states where it does business. The current list of state licenses and license numbers is maintained on the South River Mortgage licensing page. You can also confirm our licensing, and the licensing of any of our loan originators, through NMLS Consumer Access, the free public service operated by the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System.
Partner licensing
Brokers, correspondents, and other partners must hold the licenses and registrations required to originate or sell reverse mortgages in each state where they work with us, and their loan originators must be individually licensed or registered through NMLS as required by state and federal law. We verify company and originator licensing during onboarding and periodically afterward, and we can only accept loans from states where both South River Mortgage and the partner are licensed.
State notices
Texas
Consumers wishing to file a complaint against a company or a residential mortgage loan originator should complete and send a complaint form to the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending, 2601 North Lamar Boulevard, Suite 201, Austin, Texas 78705. Complaint forms and instructions may be obtained from the department’s website at www.sml.texas.gov. A toll-free consumer hotline is available at 1-877-276-5550.
The department maintains a recovery fund to make payments of certain actual out of pocket damages sustained by borrowers caused by acts of licensed residential mortgage loan originators. A written application for reimbursement from the recovery fund must be filed with and investigated by the department prior to the payment of a claim. For more information about the recovery fund, please consult the department’s website at www.sml.texas.gov.
